HMAS HOBART ASSOCIATION
Closed down last Sunday 20th February 2022 after operating for around 75 years. Sadly the latest generation are not interested in associations such as these. The current members are fading away and there are no new member to replace them
John (Bomber) Wells
Passed away 6th December 2020 aged 92. I think Bomber was our last Hobart Association (Cruiser) member here in the west
Kevin Gleeson
I believe he was in the first group of electricians trained at HMAS Cerberus when the RAN decided to have an Electrical Branch. He was originally trained as a Torpedo Man in the RAN. Our best wishes to Kevs’ family at this sad time

Barry was an EX PO (WE) and was on the commissioning crew of HMAS Hobart II and was on the first deployment to Vietnam. Our sympathy to Leonie and all Barry’s family in this time of sadness

Merv Semfel
Passed away Monday 15 august 2016
Merv served proudly in the Hobart in its first deployment to Vietnam.
He was a strong advocate for wider recognition to operations such as “Sea Dragon” and
how such battles were portrayed in the Australian War Memorial.

Passed away at 0930 6th October at Toowoomba hospital.

Passed away on the 11th October 20210
Ken was a commissioning crew member and served on HMAS Hobarts first deployment to Vietnam.
He was also a staunch advocate for the HMAS Hobart Association and Junior Recruit Members
