Hobart Association members,

As we approach Commissioning I wanted to provide you an update of our progress along with our key milestones ahead.

As you will be aware we will Commission into the RAN on 23 September 2017. We are very much looking forward to the day as it marks the completion of a busy program including a number of DDG courses, seariding experiential training in ESPS Cristobal Colon (Spanish F105), Provisional Acceptance, Relocation of Hobart to FBE along with the conduct of Departmental Management Audits, Seaworthiness Assessments and various governance boards.

Following Commissioning we have a very busy program conducting operational test and evaluation culminating in a deployment to the US where we will be put to the test against modern, realistic threats.

I understand the disappointment experienced by many of you due to the lack of available tickets for commissioning; my crew and I were quite humbled by the high interest shown. We remain very keen to show you what Hobart III is capable of. We are therefore looking forward to hosting you onboard Hobart on Saturday 7 October from 0900-1200 (we’ll be located at the Oil Wharf at Fleet Base East). Please note this is a Hobart Association only event designed to showcase our new ship to you.

Once again, thank-you for your continued support. I look forward to seeing you in the coming weeks.

Yours aye,

John Stavridis
