The Itinerary
This morning we depart our prearranged pick up points beginning our trip into Nowra. Our first stop will be Meroogal House, Meroogal is a house that has been greatly cherished by its owners. Four generations of women, belonging to the same family, have lived under its roof from the time it was first occupied in February 1886, until its purchase by the Historic Houses Trust, almost one hundred years later in August, 1985. In announcing the acquisition, the then Premier, Neville Wran said that: ‘Meroogal was being purchased because it was the most intact late nineteenth century house known in New South Wales and the acquisition would enable the fine collection to be retained in the house.’ Here you will feel like disappearing back to the country life of yesteryear where life was simpler and a homemade sponge cake sat on the kitchen table? Home to four generations of women from the same family, this Gothic-revival timber house has hundreds of stories to tell from the multitude of belongings and objects left by each generation. A grand house in its day, by today’s standards it is in fact quite modest. Its women were frugal while its ‘everyday’ life tells an epic story.

Next we make our way to Hanging Rock with its picturesque views of the Shoalhaven River , where we will have morning tea supplied from the coach. We reboard our coach and commence Highlights tour from Nowra to Greenwell Point, a unique little fishing village at the mouth of the Shoalhaven River. Your driver will provide you some informative commentary about the early days of Nowra, and the important part this region played in the early settlement days of Sydney. Upon arriving at Greenwell Point we will enjoy a delightful fish & chip lunch, you will also have time to wander the wharf area. We now reboard our coach and return to our pick up point.

The Itinerary

This morning we depart our prearranged pick up points and our journey now heads towards the pristine area of Jervis Bay and the township of Huskisson. Our first attraction will be a deligtful cruise on the Jervis Bay. Dolphin Watch Cruises was one of the first Dolphin and Whale Watching companies to begin operations in Australia and has now been cruising the Bay for over 20 years! Their commitment to, and experience in, responsible and sustainable dolphin and whale watching has been rewarded with over 20 local and state tourism awards and has earned us our dual Advanced ECO accreditation.Their mission is to educate visitors, helping them to discover the natural wonders of Jervis Bay Marine Park, whilst enhancing the protection of the Bays’ marine inhabitants. You will then have free time in Huskisson to purchase lunch and wander this vibrant little coastal town.

Next we arrive at the Lady Denman Heritage Museum for a visit to this unique facility, The Lady Denman Maritime Museum Jervis Bay consists of a number of buildings housing the original Lady Denman Ferry, permanent exhibitions and temporary exhibitions, surrounded by diverse natural and man-made environments. This facilty will bring back many memories. We are sure many of you may have traveled on Sydney Harbour on the Lady Denman, which was built in Huskisson. This amazing faciilty is named after Lady Gertrude Denman, wife of the Governor General, Lord Denman and daughter of Industrialist, Weetman Pearson. She is more famous for announcing the name of the new capital city, Canberra, in 1913 than for her other accomplishments while in Australia. Afternoon tea is included. After a memorable day we head back to our pick up point.

This afternoon we will enjoy a highlight of the Shoalhaven, its well regard wine growing region which has flourished over the past 20 years. The region produces a wide range of varieties including Chardonnay, Verdelho, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Chambourcin, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. In recent years new exciting varieties have been planted and are now available for tasting at cellar doors. These new varieties include Arneis, Viognier, Tempranillo, Sangiovese and Tannat. Day Tour 4 : Naval History , Silos & Boutique Berry

Tour Departs – Shoalhaven Heads Caravan Park @ 8.45am
Tour Cost from: $70.00 per person

Minimum 30 Paying Passengers – Maximum 48 Paying Passengers Tour Price is Valid for October , 2015.

The Itinerary
This morning we depart our prearranged pick up points and travel to The Fleet Air Arm Museum an important part of the Shoalhavens History as we still have 2 operating Naval Bases, HMAS Creswell & HMAS Albatross in our region. Boasting 6,000 m2, two-storey exhibition centre, souvenir shop, Café, function centre, theatre and airfield viewing platform. The museum’s verandah overlooks the historic airfield at HMAS Albatross which has variously served the RAAF, the USAAC, the Royal Navy, the RNZAF and the RAN since it was established in 1941.From little things, big things grow. Developed from a small collection of naval aviation relics and five obsolete RAN aircraft by a very energetic team of Navy volunteers originally established in 1974, the museum has grown to be the largest regional museum and the largest aviation museum now containing over 25 aircraft and numerous aviation artifacts to relay the story of Naval Aviation and the development of the Royal Australian Navy’s Fleet Air Arm. We reboard our coach and travel to Nowra for some freetime and time to purchase lunch. After lunch we travel to Silos Winery. The estate is a working vineyard operating from buildings used in the original dairy farm established in 1870. The premises have now been fully restored and house award winning accommodation, cellar door, art gallery and a restaurant.

Visitors can enjoy a walk around the vineyard followed by a wine tasting or a browse through the art gallery at the cellar door. In 2007 Silos Estate outlined a three year plan to become fully self sufficient in energy needs and address unsustainable production practices. This goal was achieved in mid-2010, with the Estate actually becoming carbon neutral for its energy needs .All energy for the winery, accommodation and cellar door is generated via solar or wind power (100% renewable energy sources); and its production process for viticulture and wine making completely redesigned (it is a non-irrigating vineyard; has removed all known environmentally damaging chemicals/sprays; use low carbon bottles for wine packaging etc.). After an enjoyable wine tasting we make our way to the Boutique Township of Berry, the first truly rural town south of Sydney, and is situated on a coastal plain bounded by the escarpment of the Great Dividing Range to the west, and the Tasman Sea, part of the Pacific Ocean, to the east. With its historic buildings and leafy surrounds, Berry is a delightful village to visit year-round. In the past few years Berry has become a favourite refuge for Sydneysiders. A veritable popular NSW getaway. The town is well supplied with all the essential ingredients of an urban lifestyle, including many arts, crafts and design outlets and restaurants & cafés and gourmet outlets. Our journey is now at an end as after our stop in Berry we make our way to our pick up point.
